The mission of The Compassionate Friends is to assist families toward the positive resolution of grief following the death of a child of any age and to provide information to help others be supportive.
The Compassionate Friends is a national nonprofit, self-help support organization that offers friendship, understanding, and hope to bereaved parents, grandparents and siblings (14 and up). There is no religious affiliation and there are no membership dues or fees.

Grief Recovery at Legacy Church of Christ Thursday Evenings from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm Legacy Church of Christ, 8801 Mid Cities Blvd., N. Richland Hills, TX 76180
Each session lasts five weeks, with one meeting per week. Each session has a minimum of six persons. This program is designed to be group therapy with an emphasis on the individual. The program is designed for all types of grief, in which an adult might be experiencing. The facilitator Aaron Ashbrook welcomes calls about the program at his home (817) 284-3386. Grief Recovery sessions consist of activities that promote adjustment and hasten recovery from grief. A warm, compassionate atmosphere which accepts and welcomes each participant permeates each meeting. Grief Recovery facilitators are trained lay people who have experienced loss in their own lives. Their approach is not doctrinal or theological. Everyone is welcome regardless of religious beliefs.
Grief Recovery is limited in size to permit personal attention in a small group setting. Sessions last two hours. Grief Recovery is a community service of the Richland Hills Church of Christ. THE REMAINS OF SOPHIA HAWTHORNE THE WIFE OF NATHANIEL HAWTHORNE AND UNA HAWTHORNE THE DAUGHTER OF NATHANIEL HAWTHORNE WERE INTERRED MONDAY, JUNE 26TH, ON AUTHORS RIDGE, SLEEPY HOLLOW CEMETERY, CONCORD.
NATHANIEL HAWTHORNE DIED IN 1864 AND AFTER HIS DEATH SOPHIA HAWTHORNE AND UNA TRAVELLED TO ENGLAND WHERE THEY BOTH LATER DIED AND WERE BURIED. THE DOMINICAN SISTERS OF HAWTHORNE, AN ORDER FOUNDED BY ROSE HAWTHORNE, A CATHOLIC CONVERT AND ANOTHER OF NATHANIEL’S DAUGHTERS ARRANGED TO TRANSPORT THE REMAINS OF THE MOTHER AND DAUGHTER BACK TO THE UNITED STATES FOR BURIAL WITH NATHANIEL HAWTHORNE IN SLEEPY HOLLOW CEMETERY.
THE TOWN HEARSE HAS BEEN IN THE CARE OF THE JOSEPH DEE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 27 BEDFORD STREET, CONCORD CENTER FOR MANY YEARS. THE HEARSE IS BELIEVED TO HAVE TRANSPORTED THE ALCOTTS AND EMERSONS AND MANY CONCORD NOTABLES TO THEIR FINAL RESTING PLACE ON AUTHORS RIDGE. THE ORIGINAL FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS AND BURIAL RECORDS OF THE CONCORD HISTORICAL AUTHORS, SUCH AS LOUISA MAY ALCOTT, RALPH WALDO EMERSON, BENJAMIN SANBORN & MANY CONCORD NOTABLES HAVE BEEN SHELTERED BY THE JOSEPH DEE & SON FUNERAL HOME FOR GENERATIONS.
TO HONOR THE HAWTHORNE’S, AND IN THE TRADITION OF THE FUNERAL OF NATHANIEL HAWTHORNE, THE DEE FAMILY WHO PURCHASED THE HEARSE FROM THE TOWN IN THE 1800’s WILL USE THE ANTIQUE CARRIAGE HEARSE AGAIN TO TRANSPORT SOPHIA AND UNA HAWTHORNE TO THEIR FINAL REST.
SUSAN DEE AND CHARLES DEE ARE THE FOURTH GENERATION OF FUNERAL DIRECTORS TO SERVE THE RESIDENTS OF CONCORD AND ARE ASSISTING MR. GEORGE SIEGEL, A FUNERAL DIRECTOR FROM NEW YORK TO HONOR THE MEMORY OF THE HAWTHORNE’S. JOSEPH DEE SR. WAS THE SEXTON OF SLEEPY HOLLOW CEMETERY DURING THE TIME OF NATHANIEL HAWTHORNE’S DEATH.
THE ANTIQUE CARRIAGE HEARSE WAS DRIVEN BY WAYNE TUCKER, OWNER OF THE IRONSHOE FARM IN UXBRIDGE, MA. THE CARRIAGE WAS DRAWN BY TWO DAPPLE GRAY PERCHERON HORSES. THE PROCESSION WAS LEAD BY AN HONOR GUARD FROM THE MINUTEMAN NATIONAL PARK SERVICE IN CONCORD; MR. VITO “BILL” AUGELLO CARRIED THE BRITISH FLAG AND MR. CHARLES PRICE CARRIED THE AMERICAN FLAG. THE CARRIAGE HEARSE LEFT 27 BEDFORD STREET, CONCORD, MASSACHUSETTS AT 12:30 P.M. FOLLOWED BY THE DOMINICAN SISTERS OF HAWTHORNE AND THE HAWTHORNE FAMILY DESCENDENTS. THE PALL BEARERS WERE GEORGE SIEGEL, CHARLES W. DEE JR., MANUEL SANTOS AND DANTE GISMONDI. THE CARRIAGE HEARSE PROCEEDED DOWN COURT LANE TO MONUMENT SQUARE TO THE FIRST PARISH CHURCH, ON LEXINGTON ROAD, CONCORD WHERE REVEREND GARY SMITH, SENIOR MINISTER AND REVEREND JENNY RANKIN, ASSOCIATE MINISTER SAID A FEW APPROPRIATE WORDS. AFTER A BRIEF SERVICE THE HEARSE PROCEEDED TO AUTHORS RIDGE, SLEEPY HOLLOW CEMETERY WHERE A PRIVATE FAMILY BURIAL TOOK PLACE WITH THE DESCENDANTS OF THE HAWTHORNE FAMILY AND THE DOMINICAN SISTERS OF HAWTHORNE PRESENT.
BEDFORD STREET AND THE TOWN SQUARE WAS FILLED WITH CONCORD RESIDENTS AND TOURISTS AS WELL AS LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL MEDIA. IT WAS A PROUD DAY FOR CONCORD, MASSACHUSETTS AND FOR ALL WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE FUNERAL AND VIEWED AN HISTORIC AND MEMORABLE EVENT ON A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN JUNE IN THE YEAR 2006.

Fayetteville National Cemetery Places Flags on All Gravesites Saturday, May 26, 2007 Fayetteville, Arkansas
On Saturday, May 26, Fayetteville National Cemetery and area volunteers will place individual flags on all the graves in preparation for Memorial Day. The effort of placing a flag on each grave is a way the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) says “thank you” to each veteran buried at the Fayetteville National Cemetery.
The cemetery is encouraging all Scout groups, church groups, students and adults to help assist with placement of the flags. The event begins at 10 a.m. followed by lunch and a brief presentation ceremony. “This will be a great opportunity for children and youth to learn about veterans and the sacrifices they have made for our freedom,” said Tommy Monk, Fayetteville National Cemetery director.
The Memorial Day 2007 service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 28, at the cemetery near the main flag pole area.

WPS PURPOSE: To aid bereaved men and women of all ages regardless of race, creed and/or economic status, to adjust more effectively to the loss of a spouse through death and to build a new life.
WHO ARE THEY? They are women and men of all ages and backgrounds who have been widowed and are seeking support and guidance from other widowed persons who have had similar experiences.
WHAT DO THEY DO? They conduct grief support sessions led by a trained widowed person. Outreach volunteers counsel with individuals. They meet every Saturday morning for breakfast at several locations in Tarrant County and some locations each Tuesday morning. They have monthly dinner meetings. They have a monthly birthday party. They have game nights. They go on cruises. They have many diverse activities throughout every month.

Enjoy lap swimming in lanes, an open swim area and the diving area from 6 - 8 PM every Sunday night. In addition, the gym is also open for free basketball and other activities during the same hours.
